Places
Places is an algorithmic reverb with six imagined spaces alongside six familiar rooms, halls and plates.
Choose a place, set its character with REVERB, and blend it with the original sound using MIX. Each place has its own sound and responds differently to the REVERB control. Use PRE-DELAY to separate the reverb from the original sound.
Controls
- PLACE
Selects one of the 12 algorithms.
- REVERB
Shapes the selected place. Depending on the algorithm, it changes size, decay, density, tone, echo feedback or movement. Range: 0-100%. Default: 45%.
- MIX
Sets the balance between the original sound and the reverb. Range: 0-100%. Default: 25%.
- PRE-DELAY
Delays the reverb signal by 0-500 ms. Default: 0 ms.
- Amber lamp
Bypasses Places. The lamp and your DAW's bypass control operate the same parameter. Lit means active; dim means bypassed.
How Places behaves
REVERB is a different control in each place. In a plate, it primarily changes how long the plate-like tail rings. In Echo Room, it also increases the echo feedback. In Infinite Elevator, it strengthens and speeds up the rising tones.
PRE-DELAY affects the processed signal after the selected algorithm. At 0 ms it adds no delay. Places reports zero plugin latency, so the original sound remains in time with the track. Bypass uses a short crossfade to the original sound.
Places supports mono and stereo operation.
Algorithms
Places
- Crystal Castle
A wide, airy reverb that lifts the tail into shimmering octave tones. Turn up REVERB for a larger, longer-lasting crystal space.
- Echo Room
A close, warm room with two soft echoes, a touch of plate sheen, and repeats that gradually lose their brightness. REVERB adds ambience and more echo feedback.
- Gravity Void
An immense, slowly blooming space with a dark, lingering tail. REVERB expands its size, movement and decay. Even low settings retain its vast character.
- Haunted Chapel
A shadowy reverb with gentle pitch movement and a choir-like color. REVERB grows the cloud into a larger, more sustained space.
- Infinite Elevator
A spacious tail with tones that seem to rise without reaching the top. REVERB strengthens the climb and makes its cycle a little faster.
- Starfall Observatory
A broad, floating space with soft octave shimmer that gently falls in pitch, like a trail of falling stars, surrounded by a diffuse halo. REVERB opens up the space and extends the tail.
Reverbs
- Concert Hall
A natural concert-hall sound with detailed early reflections and a deep, wide tail. REVERB takes it from intimate to immense.
- Hall
A classic, dramatic hall that builds from diffuse early echoes into a smooth, spacious tail. REVERB increases its scale and sustain.
- Plate Bloom
A full, classic plate sound with a lively onset and a dense, smooth tail. REVERB acts like a damper, setting how long it rings.
- Plate Sheen
A warm, dense plate with a clear, even midrange, a smooth onset and a bright, silky upper tail. The hard 2-6 kHz edge fades sooner than the body, and the low bass decays early. REVERB extends both the body and the sheen.
- Plate Sizzle
A bright, round plate voiced for snare. It leaves the hit itself to the drum, then blooms into a dense, smooth wash with a touch of warmth and a long, silky snare-wire shimmer. REVERB lengthens its decay.
- Room
A believable room with close, detailed reflections and a warm, natural tail. REVERB moves from a compact studio to a larger room.
